Starting on March 7th and continuing on through May 7, 2018, you can attend the latest conference by iLactation centered on Diversity, Culture, & Infant Feeding.

I’ll be presenting on Providing Culturally Sensitive Lactation Support: Serving Global Families. The content I share is great for those serving families here in the continental U.S., within the U.S. territories, and abroad.

I bring both my personal and professional wisdom and expertise to provide strategies that will help you better promote and protect breastfeeding when working in racially and culturally diverse communities. In this presentation I will detail examples and solutions that I’ve developed through my work serving mothers in Buffalo, NY, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Seattle.

    Culturally-Sensitive Lactation Support

Over the last eight years, many of my clients have identified as African, African-American, Puerto Rican, Filipino, Chamorro, Native, multiracial, or multiethnic. During this time I had the pleasure of learning about the cultural influences, community pressures, and familial support structures that greatly affect breastfeeding. My clients, many of which I now consider friends, have provided me with the unique opportunity to hear their personal stories and gain a more intimate understanding of the hurdles they experienced as they navigated breastfeeding and worked to meet their breastfeeding goals.

I hope that you’ll attend not only to hear my presentation but the other amazing speakers who will provide education on Culture, Diversity, & Infant Feeding. If you haven’t visited the iLactation site, I encourage you to do so. There is a tab where you can listen and few free presentations as well.
