Hi! Join me on Saturday January 29, 2022 from 11am to 1pm at KaribeKombucha in Rincon, Puerto Rico as I discuss midwifery care options here in Puerto Rico and homebirth safety.
This is a free event open to the public. My hope is to help clarify misunderstandings about midwives, our training, what we offer, and help women have greater access to care that is compassionate and respectful.
My plan is to start off by sharing about myself, my healthcare background, followed by my midwifery training and specialties, and then answering four key questions that I often get asked when people are considering the option of community-based midwifery care (which means midwifery care that isn’t associated with a hospital system and provides clients with the option of birthing their child at home or in a free-standing birth center).
Those four key questions are:
- What’s the difference between a midwife and a doula or OB?
- Is homebirth safe?
- How much does midwifery care and a homebirth cost?
- What are my pain relief options with a homebirth?
If any of this interests you or someone you know, you are planning to become pregnant, or you already are pregnant and looking to better understand your options for care here in Puerto Rico, this event is for you! I will also be answering questions from attendees, so feel free to come with your questions.
